What's our purpose?

Soul Terra is more than a business—it's a living, breathing community of practice. Rooted in the rhythms of the Earth and inspired by the soul’s capacity for healing, Soul Terra offers a space for reconnection, restoration, and creative expression. Based in Minneapolis, this collective blends art, energy healing, and planetary health education with a deep commitment to social transformation and relational wellbeing. Founded by Angelica Walton, a nurse, artist, scholar, and environmental advocate originally from New Orleans, Soul Terra reflects a lifelong journey of listening to land and lineage. Angelica brings the essence of the Mississippi River—from its delta to its source—into every aspect of her work. Drawing on her Doctorate in Nursing Practice and a background in holistic systems, she invites others into authentic experiences that foster healing at both the personal and planetary levels. Whether through Reiki, community events, art, or collaboration, Soul Terra exists to restore ecosocial relationships—our connections to each other, the Earth, and the energetic systems that sustain us. We believe health is collective, creativity is healing, and every being belongs in the story of planetary care. Soul Terra’s purpose is simple yet profound: to be a source of truth, beauty, and reconnection. A place where love and peace reside. A place to remember that healing is possible—together.

Planetary Health & Ecosocial Relstionship

Planetary Health

"Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and reassign yourself to the influence of the earth." - Henry David Thoreau

Planetary health is evolving into a significant social movement focused on restoring connections and embracing Indigenous ways of being that respect life and encourage mutual reciprocity. Throughout history, the relationship between humanity and the environment has nurtured our co-existence, with ancient wisdom traditions offering valuable insights into living in harmony the land. As an academic and systems thinker, I view the interconnected concepts of energy health and planetary health as essential to understanding our collective wellness and social sustainability. Community healing and the health of women play critical roles fostering a thriving society. By creating regenerative pathways, we can embody resilient environments that prioritize harmony, balance, and respect for all life. Together, we are capable of navigating the challenges of climate change while nurturing a healthier planet for future generations.

Angelica's Story & Area of Practice

Growing up in New Orleans, I was iteratively influenced by the many teachers that our culture embodies, including the Magnolias, Cypress, and Swamp elders. The adaptability of its people, the depth and diversity of its marshlands, the resonance of its sounds, and the easiness of the river; the energy of its place become a part of the way you move, the sounds you make and colors you create. The deep south shapes how you paint the world, providing an aura of its own. It is the easy-going charisma that gets imprinted as trumpets play and as bodies move effortlessly to the changing rhythms. It's the extra something special about our cooking too. I lived in this place for the first 22 years of my life and then responded to a call from the North.

Blue Record

I have journeyed up to the place where the water reflects the skies; the place where the beautiful Mississippi River and all of it's stories begin. In Minnesota, the River begins as a spring rising from the Earth's soils, we call this place the "source of truth". I have also journeyed across the nation, staying in many cities and even spending some time living outdoors in my tent with a partner and our animals at the time.

I’ve worked as a nurse in hospital systems, clinics, and community care, and I hold a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) in the area of holistic systems science. Currently, I am planted firmly in my home of Minnesota, a peaceful and expansive region that embodies a sense of community. My understanding of connection to place has been shaped by my personal experiences and ongoing studies which have guided my scholarly focus on restoring ecosocial relationships and embodied connections through natural system relationships and art. I'll share some of my work below!

Energy Systems

The Energetic Self

Energetic health is critical to our abilities to connect with ourselves, others, and the world around; a key ingredient in our ability to feel empathy and act compassionately, as well as our ability to honor and understand diversity as a construct of health and healthy systems.

Reiki

The Japanese art of Reiki is a gentle energy healing therapy that aids in promoting overall health and wellness. Derived from the Japanese words (Rei) meaning "universal life or spirit" and (Ki) meaning "energy life force," Reiki is not tied to any specific religion or belief system. Reiki offers numerous benefits, contributing to the healthy functioning of the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of being. What can you expect during a session? A typical Reiki session lasts around 45-60 minutes. Clients remain clothed and can choose to lie down comfortably on a table or sit in a chair Sessions with Angelica adopt an integrative and trauma-informed approach beginning with identifying any intentions you may have, such as pain, low mood, or anxiety. You'll be guided into a relaxed state through breath, allowing you to become aware of any physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual feelings that arise, enhancing your understanding of your energetic self. After the Reiki session, there will be time for a client-led discussion.
